#TBT Richland Park

For today's Throwback Thursday, I wanted to show this cute advertisement.

Friday, August 20th, 1937, at 4:30pm, Richland Park in Sylvan Park had a baby contest. M. P. Woolwine, Kathryn Irwain, Margaret Tatum, and Mildred Tatum encouraged all neighborhood mothers to enter their babies in the contest and gave ribbons for prettiest blue eyed baby, prettiest brown eyed baby, prettiest baby with dimples, most friendly baby, and fattest baby. Oh, goodness, can you even imagine winning "fattest baby"? It would be the talk of every Thanksgiving for the rest of your life. I looked for followups, names, to no luck. If a baby contest is scheduled at Richland Park this year, I will be there with bells on.
