Rocky Fork State Park

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

Rocky Fork is the newest state park and is on the Tennessee-North Carolina border. It is super rural and undeveloped. We weren't sure where to get our stamp until we accidentally bumped into a park ranger who had us follow him back to his ranger station. He was very nice and told us he had been with the park since it had opened. It has 2,000 acres and was named after Lamar Alexander. It has fishing, rock climbing, and over twenty miles of hiking. We did the Whitehouse Cliffs trail, which was two miles, but seriously kicked our butts. This park is stunning, and I was surprised at how little I'd heard about it before. This was easily the most "natural" "wild" park in the Tennessee State Parks system.
