Buena Vista Park was founded in 1934. It was owned by W. J. Arrington, who offered to sell the park to Nashville in 1902. However, the city didn’t have the money at the time. It was purchased in 1934. It currently has 46 acres, a community center, a library, public restrooms, baseball fields, basketball courts, and a swimming pool. It was originally one of the many mineral water springs in the city. Buena Vista has had many festivals and programs- including horse races in the 1940s. None of this history was incorporated. There aren’t any paved paths. The park itself just hasn’t had much attention in quite some time. The playground is close to the street, but gated off, which is a nice touch.
