This park opened in 2007, and has an impressive over 800 acres. It has a nature center, public restrooms, paved walking/jogging paths, hiking trails and mountain bike trails. The land was originally apart of a 2,000 acre Buchanan family farm from 1890 to 1973. It was purchased by the city of Nashville in the 90's and supposed to become a landfill, but eventually plans changed and it became a park in 2007. It has about 7 miles of trails, including a 2.3 mile loop. The land is a large, beautiful pastoral property used as a preserve. On the particular sunny day we went, we forgot to pack bug spray (rookie mistake) and got attacked by gnats and mosquitos about a half of a mile into the trails. We will be back, and better armed!
